You’re on my team!!…

You’re on my team!!

Circus Acts, Cruisings and the Call Up!!!!!!!

What a week it has been, after the final trial at Barbury Castle, I wondered if our performance was enough to secure a place on the team????? Electric Cruise put in a great performance all round, well except his circus act on the first day of dressage when I was determined not to score another test in the 50s, which in once sense I achieved – a 65!!! This was not however what I had in mind. I think I ‘overcooked’ him in the run up to the test and if anyone knows a ‘Cruising’, whilst they are very talented, they soon tell you to back off!!! Which is what Sparky did when he executed 4 lovely rears after the first halt in the CIC 3 star test. Good boy Sparky – not. However I put my hands up in the air and accept it was my own fault.

Redemption Day!!!!

We redeemed ourselves in the Olympic 4 star test and all the Irish Riders put in good performances in this class.

He jumped a lovely round in both phases and we left hoping that we had done enough!!!  Luckily we had and it was fabulous news for all the team, inlcluding owners Noel Good and Annette O’Callaghan. Wednesday was a busy day at the Offical launch with team mates and now the ‘head is down’ in preparation for the big day!!!Image

Mixed weather, …

Mixed weather, fortunes and new arrivals!!!!

Tattersalls Ireland is a favourite of many – it is world-class, with facilities second to none and a super team running it and the experienced, Event Director, Jean Mitchell MBE. running it with an iron rod.

With mixed fortunes at Tattersalls, the week ended with a good result with Electric Cruise in the CIC 3 star. The wet weather resulted in improved ground conditions allowing me to let the hand brake off and finishing on my dressage score with the fastest time of the day, in eventual 6th place in this hotly contested class. The next competition for him is the final trial for the Olympics at Barbury Castle at the end of the month.

I will be continuing with some training with SJ coach Ian Fearon with the younger horses over the next few weeks while Sparky and Franky have time to recover from their run, before we head to Ferdi Eilbergs for dressage on route to Barbury.

All the other horse came out of the run well. Swanky who was unfortunate to jump into a hole in the water jump at fence 5 had a short-lived event and now will compete in a few one days in June and will aim for Camphire CIC in August alongside stable mates Sandy, Rainy, Ronnie and Jimmy.

Lisa heads off for a well-earned break to a wedding in Sweden for a week while Jenny holds the fort a home. While Jill is counting down the days until school breaks up for the summer holidays. Mind you the weather is more like winter at the minute.

I am heading south to Kildare as I have clinics in Orchard lodge over the next few weekends and
Tatts is coming for the trip to meet his new offspring as he is the proud new father to 4 puppies!!!!
